Privacy Policy — Shabd Reveal

Shabd Reveal (“the app”, “we”) is a daily crossword and word-puzzle game made by an independent developer in India. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.

Data stored on your device only

The following is stored locally on your phone and is never uploaded:

• Puzzle progress, completions, and solve times
• Scores, XP, levels, stars, streaks and badges
• Your onboarding preferences (such as the “solver persona” on the home screen)
• Cached puzzles and hints

This data may be included in your device’s own Google backup, controlled by your Android settings and inaccessible to us. Uninstalling the app removes all local data.

Data sent off your device (only when you use “Create your own puzzle”)

The daily crosswords and bonus puzzles are built into the app and need no connection. If — and only if — you use the optional Create your own puzzle feature, the app sends:

• the topic you type, plus the chosen difficulty and grid size; and
• a random install identifier — a UUID generated on first use. It is not your name, account, phone number, or any hardware identifier, and it resets if you reinstall the app. It exists only to limit abuse of the generation service.

This request goes to our server (hosted on Supabase) and is processed by Google’s Gemini API to generate the words and clues for your custom puzzle. We do not send your name, contacts, location, or any account information — the app has none. The topic text is used to build your puzzle and is not used to profile or identify you.

Data transmitted is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Because these services may process requests on servers outside your country, using this optional feature involves an international transfer of the above information.

Data retention & deletion

Rate-limiting records keyed to your random install identifier are short-lived and automatically deleted after a couple of days. To request deletion of any data associated with your install, email us (below); because the identifier is app-generated, reinstalling the app also gives you a fresh one.

Advertising

No ads. The app is completely ad-free and includes no advertising or analytics software.

What we never collect or access

• No account, name, email, or phone number
• No location data
• No contacts, photos, files, microphone, or camera
• No advertising ID or precise device/hardware identifiers

Children

Shabd Reveal is a general-audience word game and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights (India’s DPDP Act, GDPR & others)

You may ask us what data (if any) is associated with your install identifier, and request its correction or deletion, by emailing the contact below. We hold no accounts and no directly identifying information.

Purchases

The optional Pro unlock is sold and processed entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment or card details — Google handles the transaction. Your purchase is tied to your Google account, not to any information the app holds.
