KinScan — Terms & Conditions

By downloading or using KinScan, you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1. Use of the App

KinScan provides face similarity analysis for informational purposes only.
Results are probabilistic and not guaranteed to be accurate.
You must only upload photos you own or have permission to use.

2. Extended Family Scan

Nature of Service

The Extended Family feature compares a baby's photo against up to six family members (parents, siblings, grandparents, uncles, aunts) and ranks them by facial similarity, with an optional feature-by-feature breakdown. Like all KinScan comparisons, results are probabilistic, provided for entertainment and informational purposes only, and are not evidence of biological relationship, parentage, or ancestry.

Credit Usage

Extended Family scan: 5–12 credits depending on how many family members are compared (1 base credit plus 2 credits per member, for 2 to 6 members).
Optional feature breakdown: 2 credits per compared member, with a minimum of 6 credits.
Credits are deducted only after a scan completes successfully, and only for members actually compared. Family members whose photos could not be processed are excluded and not charged.
Scans stopped by the photo-quality or age checks are not charged.

Photo Requirements

Photos tagged as Mom, Dad, Grandma, or Grandpa must show an adult; the app will ask you to change photos that appear to show a child.
Clear, well-lit, single-person photos are required for accurate results. Low-quality or multi-person photos are flagged; proceeding anyway may reduce accuracy.

User Responsibilities

You must have permission to use every photo you upload, including from each adult family member depicted.
Photos of babies and children may only be uploaded by, or with the permission of, the child's parent or legal guardian.
Results (including shared leaderboard cards) must not be used to make, support, or imply claims about biological relationships.

3. Baby Prediction Feature

Nature of Service

The Baby Prediction feature (where available) uses artificial intelligence to generate an artistic interpretation of what a future baby might look like based on photos of two adults. This feature is provided solely for entertainment purposes.

Important Disclaimers

Not a Scientific Prediction: Generated images are AI-created artistic interpretations, NOT scientific genetic predictions or medical forecasts.
No Accuracy Guarantee: Results do not and cannot represent what your actual child will look like.
Entertainment Only: This feature should not be used for any medical, legal, or decision-making purposes.
Age Requirement: Both uploaded photos must be of individuals 18 years or older.

Image Processing

Parent images are temporarily uploaded to secure Firebase Storage for processing
Images are sent to third-party AI service (MaxStudio AI) for generation
Images are automatically deleted after baby generation completes
Generated baby images are stored locally on your device
We do not retain copies of your parent or baby images on our servers

Credit Usage

First baby generation: 2 credits
Subsequent generations: 5 credits
Credits are only deducted upon successful generation
Failed generations will not be charged

Sharing

Shared baby images include KinScan branding
You retain ownership of generated images
By sharing, you grant us permission to display the branding

4. Prohibited Use

You agree not to use the app for:

Identity verification or surveillance
Illegal, harmful, or abusive activities
Impersonation or violation of others' privacy

5. Intellectual Property

All app content, branding, and software are the property of Optim Labs unless otherwise stated.

6. Third-Party Services

The app relies on third-party services including Luxand.cloud and Google AdMob. Their respective terms and policies apply.

7. Payments

Payments and subscriptions are handled exclusively by Google Play Billing. We do not store payment information.

8. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for any damages arising from the use or inability to use the app.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the app for violations of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
